A Big Gay Advisory Council are members of the A Big Gay Market community dedicated to assisting in building a sustainable and lasting foundation for its markets and creative community programming. The council will have a key role in decision making, policy and procedure drafting and implementation, marketing and advertising, fundraising and writing prospective sponsorship letters, and volunteer at select markets.

A Big Gay Advisory Council FAQ
This is a volunteer role within A Big Gay Market, but with some additional perks. Those who apply who are vendors will receive waived vendor applications for all larger markets - April and July in Washington Park - Knox St Mall in Albany and October and December at Washington Park Lake House in Albany, and additional perks below. Those who are supporters who apply will receive waived access to all ticketed special events at our markets, professional development + mentorship opportunities, and paid breakfast and lunch at all markets worked at.
All Advisory Council Members must be able to attend monthly in-person or virtual working meetings. These will be pre-scheduled around all members’ schedules with clear agendas that are an hour max.
As an Advisory Council Member, you will become a steward and driving force behind A Big Gay Market and our trajectory for years to come! You will have a key role with decision making, policy + procedure drafting and implementation, assist in marketing + advertising our events, assist with fundraising + writing to prospective sponsors for our community programming, and work select markets day-of from set up to break down.
The best candidate to join our Advisory Council is curious about how to build and create a sustainable foundation for an organization rooted in the queer+ gender expansive creative economy. You are someone who wants to both learn and also share your unique skills to be a leader and force within the A Big Gay Market community.
You must be 16+ to join the A Big Gay Advisory Council. If you are selected and you're 16, you will need a designated adult to sign a year-long permission slip.
A Big Gay Advisory Council will be comprised of 12 individuals in the first year. Cyren will select the first cohort for a year-long term. These can be renewed at the end of the year if the candidate would like to stay on board.
You will be notified of your accepted or waitlisted status by Friday, March 6th, via email. The first meeting + orientation session will be in person and scheduled by the end of March.
